AGM took place at Leigh Sports Village - Meeting chaired by Harry Murphy.
Unfortunately due to snowy weather conditions in her home town our Chaplin was not able to travel to Leigh to provide a church service on this occasion.
Deaf Chaplin Cathy Nightingale will provide a BSL service for anyone who wishes to attend.  To be held at Leigh Sports Village.

Special Visitor to Club

June 27th

Emma Ferguson-coleman works with the Social Research with Deaf People Group (SORD) at the University of Manchester. She is a Research Assistant with the Deaf with Dementia Project and will come to the club to explain what they are trying to achieve.

Karen Hall is a Specialist Activity Instructor from Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust’s Active Living Team. She will be coming to the club to explain the various activities and facilities available in the area to help people stay fit and healthy.  See their website www.getactivewiganandleigh.co.uk/about-us/
Karen Hall will be returning to the club to provide an ‘exercise class’  
Starting at 7pm she will use one of our private rooms to go through various levels of exercise and to give more information to members about staying fit and healthy.  This ‘class’ will be repeated - dates to be confirmed.

Debbie Jones is the Equality and Diversity Lead for Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust. She is coming to give an update on what is happening in the Trust regarding equality. Also there will be Doreen Hounslea attending the presentation to talk about Healthwatch.

James Mclean is the BDA's Empowerment and Campaign Officer - North West England. He will give a presentation about: BDA (British Deaf Association) and his role to empower the local Deaf community. Campaign aims to see improved access to local services. He will also highlight and explain the BSL Charter for Councils and service providers.

A presentation will be given to members of the club by Community  Fire Safety Officers. Information will also be given regarding the new 999 text service, which can be used for calling help if you need Police, Ambulance or Fire Service.
